Ethical Standards
The Editorial Team of JMachEng complies with the ethical standards recommended by the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, as well as the recommendations provided by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland.

If plagiarism is identified, the (COPE) Committee on Publication Ethics guidelines on plagiarism will be followed.

Authors should conduct their research from research proposal to publication in line with best practices and codes of conduct of COPE (ethical guidelines peer reviewer) and recommendations  given by Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education regarding to the review process, the journal evaluation requirements, ghostwriting and guest authorship fighting procedurę. These recommendations are presented in a brochure entitled "Good practice in the review procedures in science” (original in Polish and English translation) and on this web page below.

Multiple or Concurrent Submissions

• Papers submitted for review, published or accepted for publication elsewhere cannot be submitted to JMachEng.
• Papers submitted for review, published or accepted for publication in JMachEng cannot be submitted to other journals.
• Papers previously presented at conferences will be considered for publication provided no conference proceedings have been published.

Plagiarism
The submitted paper should be an original work prepared by the Author(s).
Plagiarism in any form (e.g. direct, accidental, mosaic, or self plagiarism) is
unacceptable. If the Author(s) has used the work, idea, concept, data, results etc. of others, it has been unequivocally indicated through the appropriate quotations, citations and references.
We take plagiarism seriously. All submissions are checked for plagiarism. We
use iThenticate - professional plagiarism prevention.

Dear Reviewers, if you suspect plagiarism or self-plagiarism, please inform us immediately.

Permissions for Using Third-Party Material
Authors must obtain the necessary permission to reuse third-party material (e.g., figures, tables, or text passages) in their paper. The use of such material is usually permitted for the purposes of criticism and review without securing formal permission.
If the author(s) wish to include any material in their paper for which they do not hold copyright, and which is not covered by this informal agreement, written permission from the copyright owner(s) is needed to obtain prior to submission. Any material received without such permission will be assumed to originate from the author(s).

Ghostwriting and Guest Authorship
Papers submitted must be approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities – tacitly or explicitly – at the organizations where the work has been carried out.
Authors are kindly requested to reveal the names and affiliations of any individuals and organizations who contributed to the paper, and the extent of their contribution (e.g. concepts, principles, methods, protocol, etc. used in the preparation of the paper). Authors are also required to provide information about the sources of funding (financial disclosure).
In order to meet the above requirements, it is recommended that submissions include a 'Acknowledgments' section.

Confidentiality
Any papers received for review must be treated as confidential documents. The Editors as well as Reviewers mustn't show, discuss or cite papers considered for publication.

Double Blind Review
The evaluation of the submitted papers is made at least by two independent and anonymous reviewers. The identities of the author(s) and referees are concealed during the review process.
The reviews received are not edited or made public, but only made available to the editorial team and as anonymous to the authors of the evaluated work.
Dear Authors, to facilitate the double blind review process, please ensure that information about you and your co-authors does not appear in the paper.
Dear Reviewers, to ensure the anonymity of the review process, please let us know if you have any suspicions regarding the identity of potential author(s).

Conflict of Interest
To avoid a possible conflict of interest a Reviewer is not allowed to:

• work in the same organization as Author(s), e.g., university, research institute;
• have previously collaborated with the Author(s) on a paper;
• participate in the same research project, program, or any other research initiatives (including joint implementation of research grants) connected to the paper and its Author(s);
• have any (e.g. professional, financial, or personal) connection to the paper and its Author(s).

Dear Reviewers, the Editors who have asked you for the review may not know about the potential conflict of interest thus you have an obligation to inform us about it when responding to the editor's invitation for review.

Objectivity of the Editorial Board
All members of the Editorial Board should assess submitted papers objectively based on their content, their compatibility with JMachEng’s aim and scope, as well as their compatibility with the applicable evaluation criteria without regard to gender, affiliation, academic degree or other attributes of the Author(s).
Any paper submitted to JMachEng must be treated in the same manner.

Maintain the integrity of the academic record: The editors will guard the integrity of the published academic record by issuing corrections and retractions when needed and pursuing suspected or alleged research and publication misconduct. Plagiarism and fraudulent data is not acceptable.

Retractions of the articles:(retraction guidelines)
Journals editors will consider retracting a publication if:

• they have a clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (e.g. data fabrication) or honest error (e.g. miscalculation or experimental error)
• the findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission or justification (cases of redundant publication)
• it constitutes plagiarism or reports unethical research.

Notice of the retraction will be linked to the retracted article (by including the title and authors in the retraction heading), clearly identify the retracted article and state who is retracting the article. Retraction notices should always mention the reason(s) for retraction to distinguish honest error from misconduct.
Editorial board always be willing to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when needed.


Responsibility

• Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the content of JMachEng
• Managing Editor is responsible for the organizational activities of the Editorial Team
• Statistical Editor is responsible for examination of the papers submitted to JMachEng in terms of the correct use of statistical methods;
• Editorial Board Members are responsible for the quality of JMachEng
• Reviewers are responsible for evaluating the papers in a reliable and objective manner
• Authors are obliged to observe the ethical standards for scientific publications.
